The purpose of aligning with your higher Self is to realize your full potential.
We are capable of unbelievable things, yet settle for limitation and weakness.
There’s no fun and fulfillment in only living life partially.
Self-mastery isn’t all meditation and enlightenment, sometimes it’s simply about learning how to live life better. This is what I want to offer others with my writings.
Let’s talk about the real You and how to align with it in order to become powerful and purposeful.
What is Your “Higher Self”
Your higher Self is your divine spark and center of your Being.
When you strip all of the ego away, as well as the physical, etheric, and astral bodies, all that is left is You.
Most of us are very disconnected from our higher Self, which is why many feel so lost, confused, fearful, and angry.
At the heart of many spiritual practices you will find that the goal is to re-establish this connection. Traditions and religions cloak this journey in layers of jargon and ritual, but reUnion is what the seeker seeks.
How to Align With Your Higher Self
Aligning with your higher Self is as simple as removing the ego and its attachments.
This alignment is the discovery of Self.
It is somewhat of a shock to learn that many of us don’t actually know ourselves on any kind of substantial level.
Knowledge of Self is power. You can better understand your purpose and how to direct the course of your life if you truly know who you are.
The actual process of self-discovery and self-mastery requires a little bravery, as you must first be ready to discard some of your deeply held beliefs and ways of identifying.
Release attachment to past events, especially as they concern ways you identify.
Stop labeling your Self with arbitrary tags. This includes self-identifying with illnesses, disabilities, economic statuses, and similar forms of limitation.
What other people think of you should be of no concern.
Be goal-orientated, but on a spiritual level. What do you aim to get out of a given situation that will push you in a more fulfilling direction?
Long-term planning will help you direct your energy where it needs to go. However, it’s important not to associate your identity with the results or outcomes of these events. You are only the bricklayer.
The ego loves playing the victim. To align with your higher Self, you must let go of all urges to play the victim, regardless of the circumstances.1
Avoid “grass is always greener” mentality. If you don’t know how to be comfortable and happy exactly where you are right at this very moment with what you have, this is a sign that you are too attached to certain physical parameters.
These are all great ways to shift into a lifestyle that will enable you to align with your higher Self, however there’s a lot more too this than just reducing the hold that the ego has on you.
Let’s go deeper.
Life Without Ego
The joys of ego-death are many. Inner peace, an increased capacity for joy, natural empathy, and self-confidence.
Most of us have no idea how limiting the ego really is until we dissolve it.
As you align with your higher Self, the ego is reduced. These two things happen in parallel.
Once you reduce the ego, life takes on a different feel. It is like opening your eyes for the first time and really seeing the world.
What most people think of as “waking up” (in the spiritual sense) is actually ego death, or simply a reduction in the ego.
As I detailed in Bulletproof Mind, society conditions our minds to act like a cage, or prison. This mindcage limits our reality, forcing us to think and act in ways that are detrimental to us.
We may fiercely identify with these parts of the ego, to the point where we believe it is a part of who we are. This is of course a lie.
The ego is a construct, and can be easily removed. What remains is the True Self.
The Rise of the Digital Identity
Many of us have an instinctual understanding that our “IRL” personas aren’t really us.
The Internet has given rise to the phenomenon of the digital identity. Many of us take on certain digital avatars that more closely resemble our higher selves.
In times past, we would have been able to represent these occult aspects of our True Self through spiritual rituals. For instance the ability to “dress up” in the likeness of the gods with tribal garb.
Spiritual practices like these used to serve a very practical function, with the understanding that many of us are forced to interface with the world in ways that run counter to the nature of our higher Self. Therefore, we need healthy outlets of expression in order to not form unhealthy egoic attachments or undergo any trauma.
Most of these outlets no longer exist, which is why the last century has seen some of the most bizarre and craven egoic psychic vampire behavior ever known. Mass psychosis has become the norm, as so many of us become subjugated by overinflated egos.
Digital identities therefore are innately spiritual. The avatar is the ritual garb we don in order to interface with the spiritual network, and others of like mind.
For those who are deeply in tune with our higher Self, our digital persona may look and even feel drastically different than who we appear to be IRL. This is completely natural, as there is often a great misalignment between who we are and who we REALLY are.
Use digital spaces as a means of connecting with your higher Self.
Connect with likeminded people on the network who also understand the relationship between our digital and spiritual Self.
Learn how to integrate spiritual and self-mastery practices through digital mediums.
Take time to work on your self-alignment before making a hard decision as to who and what you are.2
Digital space is inherently less dense than the physical, so it is the perfect training ground for meaningful self-work.
Finding Your Self
The most important step you can take toward aligning with your higher Self is to first accept the fact that you may not know your Self at all right now.
This is especially the case if you often feel disgruntled, confused, fearful, angry, or generally discontent. You wouldn’t feel these things if you knew your Self and were on the right track in your journey.
So accept where you are in your journey and begin working toward making that connection. Simply get in the habit of living a more positive lifestyle. Release your attachment to unhealthy self-identifiers, be more joyful and carefree.
This is another way in which digital spaces can be incredibly beneficial. If you embrace a digital persona you may feel less self-conscious, which of course is just the ego being embarrassed over its own perceived shortcomings.
You don’t have to live in the shadow of the ego.
The entire idea of “victimization” is a manmade concept, it does not exist in nature. In reality, when someone takes a victim stance, what is actually happening is a form of energy vampirism, whereby someone demands a certain degree of attention or energy based on how they “feel.” Even in situations where an individual is hurt in some way, the conscious stance of playing the victim is not the natural order of things, because the inference is that by behaving this way, the victim is entitled to another’s energy / time / care / affection / attention. This of course is psychic vampirism.
There are digital communities built around ego-based concepts and weaknesses as well, as many digital outlets are just an extension of the physical. Avoid people and communities that revolve around diseases, mental illnesses, gossip, harassment, and politics. These are spiritual dead ends.
